Though the author's professional experience comes from within wilderness therapy programs, the concepts outlined in this book apply to any parent who has a child in treatment for mental health and/or behavioral issues. Whether your child is in an outpatient treatment program while living at home or placed in an inpatient, residential or wilderness treatment program, The Parallel Process, the process for parents, remains the same.
This book focuses on the parent’s process; it is not a recommendation for any type of specific treatment for your child. This book is also not intended to be used as an alternative to seeking the professional help of a therapist or other support system.
