Help turn the top picture into the bottom
As you may know, yours truly has been running marathons for charity lately, (see
here,
here, and
here). Well, it turns out that there are plenty of unfit, middle-aged Englishmen doing the same thing. Two of my favorites are philosopher and wit
Ian Bergin, who's running for the gorillas and the incredibly brave and dedicated wardens who look after them in
Virunga National Park in the Congo, and
Andrew Knight and his lunatic friends who are into
Extreme Vegan Sports, and are apparently going to climb every mountain, 'til they find their dream—all on behalf of animals.
Much more sensible (mainly because she's Scottish) is Sheila Hyslop, whom you may know because she volunteered at the
Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. At this very moment, she's in southern India helping to
build a dam (click on the Sadhana Dam option) to retain water in a parched area of the country, which will allow the community that depends on it to thrive.
I just gave some cash to all three—and hope you'll do the same.
