Doogie is recuperating just fine...
With Doogie's case, evidence once again shows that the law, or the application of it, is often questionable.
Doogie is a dog in Pennsylvania that was left to die, chained. After he lay unable to get up for 3 days, distressed neighbors called the organization
Dogs Deserve Better. Founder Martha Grimes went, cut Doogie's chain, and took him for some much needed veterinary care. For this, she was arrested.
While it's practically impossible to get officials to press charges for animal cruelty, animals are seen as property, and rescues seen as theft.
Ethical people can't always live by the letter of the law.
